How to take care of yourself, when you don’t know where to start? Start with something small. So small you might not even realize you’re doing something big. But if it’s so small, why haven’t you done it yet?
I love lotion. I love the way it smells. I love taking care of my skin. I love feeling like I’m doing something good for myself with a small action. So I bought an extra lotion for work, one with a smell that I actually enjoy. One that I picked for myself. The one at home was a gift, and I used to always borrow everyone else’s at work. But hey, it was only a few bucks, and I got to pick my own, you know? So, why not buy my own? The magic of a couple dollars worth of consumerism is AMAZE. Another key example: my exfoliating wipes. They make me feel fresh and clean, wherever I am. It’s like magic for my face. Or something; i’m not good at metaphors. And wearing makeup?? Now, I have some basic items to make it happen, if I’m so inclined. Hair care items, same thing. I don’t always blow dry my hair or put product in it, but I like having the best of the best when I do (and I haven’t owned a curling brush in years). The stuff I put in is anti-frizz and has tons of vitamins in it. Honestly, it just looked nice on the shelf, too. I have no idea if all the products are the same or different or what. But it’s something small and it smells good and it helps my hair do better at the hair olympics, or whatever good hair is used for. So that’s all I care about.
NOT PICTURED: candles. I love me some candles. I like having nice smells throughout the house. I believe this is the third time I’ve mentioned smell in this blog post. I guess it’s pretty important to me.
Maybe there are some small things in your life that can make a big difference too. These items for me are ones that make me feel like I’m taking care of myself, while also making me a little happier in the moment.
